Communism And The Cultural Revolution - 1818 Words

Communism is fundamentally incompatible with Christianity or any form of religion because it is both organizationally and ideologically totalitarian. Since Communism is organizationally totalitarian, the government seeks to control the lives of all the nation’s citizens and is against any self-directed attempts to join organizations independent from the Communist Party, such as churches. As an ideologically totalitarian system, Communism aims to form all citizens’ opinions and values around a single doctrine; consequently, any opposing ideologies, such as Christianity, are not allowed. In 1966, Communist leader Mao Zedong launched the Cultural Revolution, which was an attempt to create a purely Communist China by eliminating the â€Å"Four†¦show more content†¦China defaces churches to destroy the physical manifestation of Christianity and undermine Christian faith; however, destruction during the Cultural Revolution was purely in the name of persecution, w hereas today it is justified by a legal pretense in order to evade foreign criticism. During the Cultural Revolution, Mao wanted to eradicate religion and the government seized churches to repurpose them as secular buildings. In Beijing, the North Church was turned into a middle school, the South Church became a processing factory, and the West Church was converted into a warehouse for medicinal herbs. By 1967, no churches in China were being used for Christian services. Mao had hoped to discourage Christians from continuing their faith by eliminating their traditional place of worship, but this tactic proved unsuccessful as communities moved underground and Christians continued to worship in secret. Although Mao was unsuccessful in stamping out the Christian faith, he effectively annihilated churches and any physical objects associated with Christianity. Mao’s merciless Red Guards traveled around China destroying crosses and sacred religious objects as well as burning down c hurches. This destruction was meant to emphasize Mao’s power over China and sometimes banners saying â€Å"Long Live Chairman Mao!† were hung over the ruins. The modern Chinese government has continued

Business Process in Construction Company †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Business Process in Construction Company. Answer: Introduction: For the purpose of identifying the root causes of the failure in Latino Engineering, the company will need situational analysis concept (Lee et al., 2007). The main objective of implementing the situational analysis concept is to analyze the problems in the focus area of the projects running in the organization. The concert will help in analyzing the root causes of the issues, it will also help in identifying the root causes of the problems and developing the solutions for the mitigation of the issues (Lee et al., 2007). Situational analysis is mainly conducted by using the data like the statistical data and survey research. The main elements of the situational analysis comprise of data analysis factors (Lee et al., 2007). Observation of the elements: With the help of observation technique, we will be able to examine the participants and their acts Structured Interviews: The questions for the interview will be structured in advance and the other new questions will be addressed during the discussion time from the answers of participants (Krishna, 2006). Focus group: A group ten to 15 people can be structured who will be allowed to discuss the issues and come down to one solution through consensus. The group will be managed by the moderator who will talk freely with the participants. The purpose of such technique is to gain an in-depth analysis of the issues (Krishna, 2006). Visual Techniques: techniques like community mapping and group ranking can be used in this concept. This concept will help in determining the priority list and the norms. Work Shops: Workshops can be arranged with the local people and outsiders for the discussion of the issues being faced by Latino engineering Company (Gravon, 2009). Any of the above-discussed techniques can be utilized for the situational analysis implementation. The concept will help in understanding the exact situation of the company (Gravon, 2009). This analysis requires to be carried out with the full participation of the beneficiaries of the project and the stakeholders. The analysis is very important and essential part of the project as it shows the logical links regarding the determined issues and the causes(Gravon, 2009). Analysis of the problem: After examining the situation in the complete sense, the information will be interpreted in the best possible way for the purpose of making clear the reasons and consequences of the issues and thereby linking them into relationships(srmuniv, 2012). How can problem analysis be conducted? One of the important ways is to think in respect of the logical steps for the determination of the causes of the issues which help in answering the question in the term of why (Aized, 2002). A team will be required to be deployed to ensure proper identification of the underlying causes(Aized, 2002). It is expected that there will be number of underlying causes for the problems under consideration (Aized, 2002). When the point will reach where there will be no answers to the issues, then it will mean that many of the underlying issues and the root causes have been illustrated and it is now high time to start with the designing of the projects(Grantesd, 2011). Tree Diagram: For the main motive of visualizing the issues, various types of techniques like the tree diagram and the fishbone diagram can be utilized (Grantesd, 2011). The diagram of problem tree will be useful for the company as it shows the flow of the main layer cause through the various casual layers towards the issues itself and towards the consequences of the respective issues. The problems will be understood in respect to the layers and the project managers will become clear about the measures that has to be taken for bringing positive changes (Grantesd, 2011). Below is the plan for uplifting the conditions of the company in the market Defective equipment of the engineering: the outcome of the improper maintenance and improper testing procedures of the company results in serious issues in the defective engineering equipment. The issues may arise because of the negligence of the engineers who are mainly working in the section of maintenance. The engineers of the department are required to look seriously in respect of the quality matters. The staff requires being clearly supervised in a strict and regular manner. Training of the employees is required to be arranged in a proper way. As most of the employees are working since a long time in the organization. So it can be said that the experience factor is not lacking anywhere. The rules and regulations implemented in the company need to be re-evaluated and launched with proper strictness. The supervisors are required to boost the morale of the employees so that they get more attached to the company (Grantesd, 2011). Eternal Stakeholders: The external stakeholders are the main critical elements of the organization. In the above case, because of the retirement of the owner of the company and the stakeholders have suffered because they were all attached to the company as the work policies of Dominic were genuine and standardized. The lack of trust in the external stakeholders and internal ones is creating big issues. For resolving such issues, the investment groups are required to meet at regular intervals with the stakeholders o explain the situations and proceedings of the company regarding the better quality (Grantesd, 2011). Poor Deigning and development: The feedbacks of the stakeholders are very important. Regular follow-ups of the stakeholders are very necessary for the proper running of the business. The cause of such kind of discrepancies may be the lack of the effective team and less number of employees who are required. Proper follow-ups at regular intervals are needed in the service sectors as they help in building customer trust and loyalty. The company aims to work with customers and is willing to provide them with the best of the products/services at competitive price. The hiring of the employees for the department and regular sessions of training are required to be organized immediately. Even the older employees are required to be offered some training regarding the new tools and techniques in the market (linkedin, 2017). Longer turnaround time for the resolution of the issues: This issue is rising because of varieties of issues like the slow or improper designs, slow services of the system, inadequate management at the hierarchical level, lack of skill and trained staff. The issues related to the computer system can be easily rectified by regular maintenance of the systems and the proper management by the engineers for resolving the problem before reaching the customers. Appropriate hiring and recruitment process is required to be followed for the resolution of the lack of skilled workers issues. Nonresponsive teams: The team of customer services is the main part of the service sector industry. The non-responsiveness might be arising because of the insufficient number of the executive or lack of morale of the employees because of the changes in the ownerships. The Same workforce was working under Dominic and used to give better results. The reason for the degraded performances may be the clash of culture between the working environments generated by the two different ownerships. As the company decides to continue with the old employees, the morale of the company needs to be continuously boosted up. The same employees used to give effective results under the ownership of Dominic, so the same results are to be taken out even now (Wheeler, 2014). The human resource management in the company and the working culture seems to be quite better during first ownership. The culture of the work in the company needs to be more innovative and the worker should be offered more empowerment. The department of human resource needs to take matter seriously and as soon as possible regarding the insufficient hiring (Wheeler, 2014). Wrong equipment use: Effective packaging comprises of pickers reaching the right bins, determining the parcels with the correct numbers of the tickets, picking it up on time and sending it to a designated location. The cause of the issues and differences related to the issues might have risen because of the lack of responsibilities in the picks or maybe because of the inappropriate training offered to the employees in the warehouses. Training procedures needs to be accurately supervised and should be conducted on effective time (Wheeler, 2014). Continuous improvement plan to ensure the problems and issues are not repeated. After the complete assessment of the company, Latino Engineering organization will be needed to act on the specified areas for the purpose of improvement (Yoon, 2003). The plan of continuous improvement will be offering structured plan for the company (Ball Maleyeff, 2003) Analysis will be done in respect of the areas of improvement Outlining of the varied actions and the tasks which are essential (Miers, 2003) Allocation of the various responsibilities (Emiliant, 1998) Prioritizing the varied cats of improvement (Smith Fingar., 2002) Illustration and establishment of the frames of time for the completion of the task (Sinur Bell., 2003) Controlling and monitoring of the effectiveness of the improvement tasks (Chang, 2005) The plan for continuous improvement is mainly related to the process management (Rother Shook, 1999). The plan for continuous improvement will mainly make the behaviors of the team member more uniform (Moore, 1999). Without the focus and the alignment of the achievements of the goal, the acts can mainly contradict with each other and can also damage the effectiveness and efficiencies of the members (Womack Jones, 1996). The company has a culture of focusing on the designing of the products which they offer (Khan, 2004). In such kind of culture, people are mainly tilted to empathizing the problems that are quite tangible and measurable (Krishna, 2004). As the organization is not following the continuous improvement plans so they all will be required to follow the steps, which have been described below (Ball Maleyeff, 2003): Goals: There are needs for entering in the SMART concept and the development values (Harmon, 2003) Strategy: The company is needed to offer the strong level of leadership to guide the projects with the plan of continuous improvement (Ball Maleyeff, 2003) Steps of Action: The stakeholders of the company are needed to ensure that company needs to have equitable and supportive environment (Verma, 2009) Plan for continuous improvement The organization is required to implement the lean management technique for the effectiveness of the process of the company. For the effectiveness and improvement of the processes, the company is needed to implement a new management process in the company. Such procedures will help in increasing the services with the help of structured approaches towards the improvement in the performances (Jeston Nelis, 2010). As the mapping of the value stream is quite an effective methodology for the illustration of the rules and the procedures of the business there is a need for the adoption of the new techniques and tools for the processing of the business managing for the reduction in the wastages and the increments in the values (Snabe et al., 2008). Commitment from management: It is very important that the senior management should show some commitment level towards the employees so that they feel informed and connected with the company Focus on Customer: Customer is the main source of revenue for the revenue and failure in satisfying the needs of the customer can affect the business Supplier quality: Suppliers are the main source of the resources and any kind of discrepancies in the supplier management can lead to bad quality Employee empowerment: It is important to involve in decision making so that they can support the decisions of seniors and can also offer their ideas for improvement The procedures of the company have been in the process of designing the tools which comprise of the establishment of the budgets. The main values of the process are to reduce the wastages in the budgets and the achieving the goals of the enhancing value of the money (Ball Maleyeff, 2003) Process Flow determination The stream of value requires being used as the main tool which will encompass the activities and the structures of the project as the base of the analysis of the future flows. The process will involve the receipts of the designs and the estimations of the budget(Deming, 2008). The figure below describes the typical processing of the business of the company for the control of the budgets. The procedures need to be carried forward by the filed officers. In many of the cases, it gets very cumbersome to design the tools because there is lack of time and training. When such conditions occur a lot of discrepancies like the waste, incorrect data management and task overlap occur. The issues can be managed by the implementation of the function of business processing. Some important functions associated with the process are: Task overlapping: this issue will be resolved with the help of automation of the task Inaccurate data for orders: this issue will be resolved with the help of automation of the task Delay in the decision-making process: this issue will be resolved with the help of management of performances Obscurement of the flow: this issue will be resolved with the help of management of process Unnecessary activities: this issue will be resolved with the help of management of process and automation of the task Development of the value through business processing After the decrease in the waste elements, the managers of the department of the designing will be required to manage the wastes that might occur in the future times. The management process of the business will be needed to offer support towards the participation of the processes with the help of information and people. The charts below show the systematized value creation form the plan of improvement. A batch of the general populace might be covetous and covetous. This is non a ground to look down upon the Grecian people. I have seen first manus that a Fraternity can make good without the presence of intoxicant. In my house, Phi Gamma Delta, we have chosen non to hold intoxicant as a portion of our mundane life. We have seen what intoxicant can make to fraternities. About five old ages ago Phi Gamma Delta was closed down due to missing classs and other complications. When we were ab le to open back up, we decided that it should be alcohol free. This in itself was a large measure for the Greek community and we decided to take it. We have taken the opportunity of non being the most popular or the biggest party house on campus but alternatively turn the image about and demo that the Greek community as a whole can be respected and responsible. In many houses, philanthropic gifts are a large portion of their lives. Many spend their weekends assisting childs at the local male childs and misss nine, training a hoops squad, or even picking up rubbish on the side of the route. One fraternity for illustration that does this is Sigma Pi. They have a certain portion of main road that they pick up rubbish every twelvemonth. These are non activities that any Grecian member is required to make. This is something they choose to make, both to better themselves as an association and to assist out the public community. Peoples who respect and help the community do be in the Grecian system. Most people hear about how fraternity # 8217 ; s merely party and drink and they think that is all they do. You can non judge an full working and productive community by merely one bad experience. Not everybody is the typical # 8220 ; frat boy # 8221 ; or typical # 8220 ; sorority girl. # 8221 ; Of class there is ever a few bad apples here and at that place, but Thursday ere are bad apples everyplace in this universe. Fraternities have non wholly given up the # 8220 ; party scene. # 8221 ; All houses have these so called # 8220 ; maps, # 8221 ; but non all contain intoxicant. Many are dry, which is the term used for non holding alcohol present at the party. This is a great manner to socialise and acquire to cognize people. It allows person to acquire to cognize another individual on a one-on-one footing without being intoxicated. Hellenics have realized this and hold decided to non ever use intoxicant while hosting a societal event. Delta Upsilon fraternity and along with all of the sorority # 8217 ; s on campus have realized that they excessively do non necessitate intoxicant to hold a good clip. They believe that this is a responsible manner of interacting with people and this is their manner of demoing the community that they do non needfully have to hold intoxicant to hold merriment. In many ways it allows them to be themselves and learn them to step out of their comfort zone and get the better of the normal barriers of shyness. There are a batch of fraternity work forces and sorority adult females who take an active function on campus. Some work with public functionaries, some are teacher helpers, and others work for the university giving Tourss for possible pupils. Many of these great people live in my house. They are great leaders and have a great influence on the people they meet. They are responsible and respectable immature grownups that work hard for what they do and for what they earn. This is evidently non even shut to the stereotype that a batch of people have about fraternities and sororities. This, to me, is something that everyone should look extremely upon and perchance pattern themselves after. The Greeks are a goodhearted and eager group ready to take on any challenge and put good attempt to it. Imagine assisting out the community on a regular footing and still acquire good classs. Well on top of everything else, the Greeks # 8217 ; classs are merely every bit of import as anything that they do. All houses combined have an overall better class point norm than the school as a whole does. It # 8217 ; s obvious to see what the Grecian system deems as of import and what is necessary to last in the existent universe. Making clip to travel out and assist person and keeping good classs is tough, but for some ground the Greeks cognize how to make this. This merely shows that they can work hard for others every bit good as themselves. Classs are seemingly a large issue in their lives ; therefore they are willing to demur full duty in whatever they do. This is a mark of true dedication and devotedness and should be regarded as such. These are non the actions of a weak and immature society, but alternatively those of a strong, turning and responsible organisation that is welcome and willing to set forth new attempts to do their communities better. I am proud to state that I am portion of this organisation and I have the best chance to make both what is good and right for myself and the people around me. Peoples should recognize that there is more to fraternities and sororities than they truly think they know. Each house has its qualities and its traits and the common populace should halt and acknowledge this.

Smart vs Intelligent Essay Example

Smart vs Intelligent Essay Example Smart vs Intelligent Essay Smart vs Intelligent Essay I.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Definition of Smart and IntelligentThere are several definitions of the words Smart and Intelligent. Before differentiating and comparing both words, it is important to determine the meaning of the word smart and intelligent. Some people think that the words smart and intelligent can be used interchangeably. However, if people would investigate closely the definitions and applications of the word both words have a different meaning. Smart can be defined as a person that proves to be alert, thinks on his own and resourceful. It can also be defined as sophisticated and chic. Other context of smart shows that the word means bright, and fresh. There are other meanings of the word smart but the definition that would be discussed would be related to the word intelligent. The word intelligent means having the capability for thought and reason. The word can also mean possessing knowledge. Other meaning used by smart e conomy is healthy or executing fine judgement.II.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Comparison of Smart and IntelligentBased on the definitions, it can be concluded that a person is intelligent if he or she possesses the right knowledge, in other words a genius. A person is considered a genius if he or she can easily know or remember certain things in the world, a person who has innate knowledge without needing further studying. A smart person is a person who is brilliant in terms of using his knowledge to his or her benefit. He or she can be considered as someone who can get out of any difficult situation. For example, Being a genius means knowing everything by the book and being able to provide the right calculations. However, being smart is having the knowledge to apply his knowledge in real life situations. Intelligent people are regarded as the Einstein’s of the world. Smart people can be regarded as those people that have the right judgemen t in things. A person can be both smart and intelligent at the same time, however there are those people who can be regarded as intelligent only but not smart and there are those who are smart but not intelligent. For example a smart and intelligent person knows the theories and concept of a business and at the same time knows how to apply this theories and concept in the business itself. A smart person does not know the right theories and concept but knows how to manage the situation well, On the other hand an intelligent person is someone who knows every concept and theories by the book but this person does not know how to apply it in the actual situation.III.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Which is Better Smart or Intelligent?Based on my opinion, it is better to be smart than intelligent. This is so because an intelligent person may know all the knowledge in the world but the knowledge is not helpful if he or she does not know how to apply it. The knowledge i s useless if it cannot be used at a time when the person already needs to use it. On the other hand, even though a smart person does not know any concept and theories about the matter, he or she does everything in his power to apply something through the use of his common sense. The important element that a smart person has is his common sense. Even if formal training is not given to the smart people, the person can still do something about a certain situation because he would do what he think is right based on his judgement on the situation. As much as possible it is better to have both qualities because having the right knowledge and background and being able to apply these theories and concept in the real life is a good strategy. If a person knows everything about what he does then nobody can trick him into doing the wrong thing. A smart person bases his judgement on common sense however, if a person does not have the right instincts then he or she can do something wrong and as s uch can be a source of mistake.IV.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Smart and Intelligent SituationsDuring exams, I can be considered as an intelligent person if I get the right answers in identification, matching type and enumeration type of exams. It is necessary to have the right knowledge when answering these type of questions. This is so because these type of questions require the exact answers for it to be right. However, for math problems such as problem solving and essay type questions such as application of a concept in a certain application, it is better to be smart. Problem solving needs analysis in order to determine the correct answer. If the problem is not analyzed correctly, it could lead to wrong calculations and wrong answers. Essays also need a bit of analysis so that the person can provide the right answers. Understanding of the concept is necessary for essay type questions. However, both qualities are necessary in school that is why it is important that students like us know and understand the concepts and theories behind the subjects that we are taking. Knowledge in a certain subject is not enough to ensure high grades. It is also necessary that we students have the right understanding in the certain subjects.

Diasporas Readings Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Diasporas Readings - Essay Example Also, as stated in the website, the U.S. government has forecast a shortage of 20 million workers by 2026. The result of these is the increasing number of Asian immigrants, mostly Chinese and Indians, comprising the labor force. Within the last ten years, the Indian population in the U.S. doubled due to demand in labor together with the increase of Indians sponsoring their families. (US Immigration Facts, 2011). Two articles, Melwani (2006) and Kurien (2005) were taken into consideration about the socio-cultural adaptations of Indians in the United States Socio-cultural Assimilations In terms of psychographics (social and cultural aspect), Indians regard the family unit is considered to be more important than the individual, respect value and age, have diverse religious beliefs and are conscious of their food and beverage consumption (Chacko, 2009). Being in the Unites States, the immigrant Asian Indians have been, in one way or another, â€Å"Americanized†. Their names, food preferences, outfit and some beliefs changed as a way of adaptation and also for the mighty dollar (Melwani, 2006). The changes, adaptations while keeping their identity have become major issues for the Indians. Melwani (2006) gave different accounts about some Indians and their moral quandaries. Some of them have become chefs and restaurant owners facing the dilemma of preparing beef, which is very sacred to them, to satisfy the cravings of their Western consumers. Being vegetarians, they also try not to eat meat. Suvir Saran, a chef in New York City, stated that he never tasted what he was cooking and relied completely on his sense of touch and smell and sight and it was very tough for him. Some Indians also had no choice and tried to taste meat as part of their job which they now consider without moral tension. Other Indian businessmen also own hotels and liquor stores which serves alcoholic beverages. For them, things related to sex and sexual intercourse are considered taboo, b ut to those who live in America, conversations about these things are regarded as normal. There were some Indians who own shops selling sex videos, sex toys and strip shows. One of the most basic possessions of Indians also changes in America. As stated by Melwani (2006), in a lightning flash, the names of the Almighty, like Krishna, Mahesh, Vishnu and Shankar mutate into Chris, Mike, Vic and Sandy. Clothings and outfits also changed, the sari and bindi (symbol of a woman’s marital status) were now replaced with modern skirts and dresses. Indians in the corporate world now wear corporate dresses instead of saris and kaajals. According to Diditi Mitra of Brookdale Community College, as cited by Melwani (2006), the moral conundrums are negotiated not just by immigrants, but also by people in India. It is now all about negotiation. Situations were as follows: vegetarian families eat meat outside their homes; young men drink and smoke outside but not near their parents; and they eat with knife and fork with international clients but go back to eating with bare hands at home. Kurien in 2005 discussed an article about the identity struggles of second-generation Indian Americans. He cited Portes and Rumbaut (2001) stating that that the most successful strategy for such second-generation Indian Americans to follow is a process of â€Å"selective acculturation† whereby they incorporate themselves into mainstream society while retaining some of the parents’

Hematologic Discussion Essay Example for Free

Hematologic Discussion Essay Question 1 Anemia is a condition of the blood in which the number of healthy red blood cells is very low to meet the oxygen requirements of body tissues. It is mainly classified on the basis of erythrocyte morphology, physiology and probable etiology. The classification based on morphology of red blood cells takes into account the size of erythrocytes. Under this category microcytic anemia occurs if the red blood cells are smaller than normal. Normocytic anemia is present if the red blood cells have the normal size but lower in number whereas macrocytic anemia occurs when the red blood cells are larger than normal. Based on etiology, various conditions are considered which result in either blood loss, excessive destruction of red blood cells and decreased or impaired production of red blood cells. On the same note, the physiological classification is based on hemoglobin level and occurs in three stages. These include the mild stage in which the Hb level is 110-90g/l, moderate stage in which Hb level is 90-70g/l, and severe stage in which Hb level is Laboratory criteria (Makama, 2010). The three types of anemia are iron-deficiency anemia caused by blood loss such as in cases of heavy or prolonged menstrual periods, insufficient iron supply or underutilization of iron in the body.   Aplastic anemia is caused by inability of the bone marrow to produce enough erythrocytes, platelets and white blood cells. Sickle-cell anemia is caused by a hereditary defect which affects Hb production in which the red blood cells assume an abnormal crescent shape. It is worth noting that the most common type of anemia in the United States is iron-deficiency anemia since most women are of child bearing age and experience excessive blood loss during menses. Similarly, the signs and symptoms of this type of anemia are pale skin, fatigue, headache, dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbances, and dry mouth. Its treatment involves intake of iron rich diet including iron supplements (bodyandhealth.canada.com, 2009). Question 2 DIC is an acronym that stands for disseminated intravascular coagulation. It is a serious disorder in which proteins which control blood clotting become abnormally active resulting in formation of blood clots within blood vessels. The clogging of blood vessels cuts off blood supply to various organs such as the brain, liver and kidneys. DIC can be caused by certain types of blood cancer, blood infection by fungus or bacteria and blood transfusion reactions. Clinical manifestations include excessive hemorrhage, hypertension, and blood clots. DIC can be treated by using plasma transfusions to replace blood clotting factors. Also heparin may be used to prevent blood clotting (nlm.nih.gov, 2010).

Formal Commentary On One Hundred Years Of Solitude :: essays research papers

Formal Commentary How does Garcia Mà ¡rquez use imagery to create the dramatic situation of Prudencio’s Death?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The image of conflict which Garcia Mà ¡rquez draws, is only a beginning to an endless struggle in the Buendà a family. Garcia Mà ¡rquez creates this passage, not only as a Genesis, but as a way to warn the reader of the fate of the Buendà a name. After finishing this passage, I was left not with a feeling of closure, but with a feeling of lingering doubt and wonder. Josà © Arcadio Buendà a seeks closure himself because of rumors of being impotent. This rumor starts because of the Buendà a curse, the pig’s tail. I realized this was only the first of many following conflicts, when Josà © Arcadio Buendà a attempts to resolve the situation by killing Prudencio Aguilar. But Prudencio doesn’t die. He lives on, and haunts Josà © Arcadio Buendà a until he is forced to leave for Macondo. Garcia Mà ¡rquez creates a Genesis in the novel by the murder of Prudencio Aguilar. This important passage in the beginning of the book brings about its point through excellent uses of diction and word choice. Words like â€Å"tormented† and â€Å"desolation† paint a vivid picture in my mind. The vast majority of adjectives and adverbs lack happiness and overflow with conflict. â€Å"Livid†, â€Å"sad†, â€Å"anxiety†, are only three of these descriptive words, which Garcia Marquez uses to paint this small image in my mind. Anxiety, to me is not only a pain but an endless pain. Suffering which lasts indefinitely. This new indefinite pain brought into the Buendà a family by this passage, like anxiety, continues. The dramatic situation in this passage brings about a continual plague of death and conflict.

Risk Management In Spain Health And Social Care Essay

Pull offing hazard has become an of all time more increasing issue in every field. Its significance depends really much on the context that we are working in. In the veterinarian sector control systems have been developed to protect the wellness of animate beings to guaranty their safe ingestion. What they are and how they work in Spain will be discussed in this assignment. Hazard Analysis ( RA ) , what for? By and large by Risk we understand a state of affairs or action, which has different results, and about one of these is negative and poses a menace ( 1 ) . When menaces are identified, they are analysed and dealt with in order to cut down and eventually extinguish them. RA is a procedure or technique used to mensurate the consequence of unknown menaces. There are four phases to specify the RA system: jeopardy designation, hazard appraisal, hazard direction and hazard communicating. This technique is used by a wide diverseness of administrations, private and governmental 1s ( NATO, FAO, WHO, EFSA, OIE, ECDC ) , in the nutrient safety sector in Spain by AESA/AESAN. Definitions For a Hazard to be at that place has to be a jeopardy, which needs to be identified in the first case. A jeopardy can be described as a state of affairs, or a status that can do harm or some sort of loss, to human existences, animate beings or the environment ( 2, Apx1 ) Hazard designation is a procedure or stairss that we take to allow us place possible menaces in a state of affairs. It is possible to associate a peculiar jeopardy to a possible hazard, but it ‘s non possible to place all the jeopardies. Hazard appraisal can be understood as the appraisal, qualitative & A ; quantitative, of the hazard ensuing from the jeopardy. There are two chief procedures, qualitative and quantitative, that must be specific depending on the state of affairs. Risk direction is the application of the necessary steps to measure, proctor and take effectual control of the hazards, in order to minimise the possible negative impact of the development of this hazard ( 3 ) . Hazard communicating attempts to give a clear image about the hazard. This procedure requires a clear and open communicating between all the parties involved, ( stakeholders ) . This can merely be achieved if some necessities take topographic point: exchange of information, acknowledgment of the class and grasp of hazard, understanding the effects of options and make support for determinations. This can be achieved through meetings, treatments, interviews, web-blogs, Radio and Television. The undermentioned diagram shows the relationship between the three constituents of RA. ( 4, 5 ) ( 5 ) In Spain RA has become strategically of import in veterinary and carnal wellness ( 6 ) . It is now a common tool in veterinary public wellness and used by governmental organic structures that play a function in enforcing ordinances designed to protect animate beings or human wellness ( AESA, MARM, RASVE, SIR, etc. ) . In the veterinarian field RA can be conducted by two chief systems. They are based on two theoretical accounts, one adopted by the Office International des Epizooties ( OIE ) and the other used by the Codex Alimentarius. Under the umbrella of the FAO/WHO Food Standards Programme, the Codex Alimentarius Commission was produced in 1963 to make processs and regulations to modulate the pattern of nutrient criterions ( 7 ) . The RA system in the Codex has these chief points: Hazard Appraisal Hazard Management Hazard Communication These definitions can be found in the Procedural Manual ( 13th Edition ) of the Codex. ( 8 ) The system used by the OIE, in its Covello/Merkhofer Model, comprises of the undermentioned constituents ( Apx1 ) : Hazard Identification Hazard Appraisal Hazard Management Hazard Communication. The OIE defines Hazard designation as â€Å" the procedure of acknowledge the pathogenic cause which might potentially be conveying in to the merchandise considered for importing † . Hazard designation is an added constituent in this system. It is a procedure used to place jeopardies in a given state of affairs that ‘may present a alteration in hazard to animal or human wellness ‘ ( 9 ) . Hazard appraisal can be described as the appraisal of the chance and the biological and fiscal effects of entry, adjustment, or spread of an infective agent in the part of an importing state. ( 9 ) Risk direction is the method of identifying, taking and using steps that can be practical to cut down the threshold of hazard. ( 9 ) Hazard communicating is the all parts active interchange of information on hazard between hazard assessors, hazard directors and other involved parties. ( 9 ) The chief difference between the two systems is that the OIE has the jeopardy designation as a phase of the RA. The Codex system has the jeopardy designation as a portion of the hazard appraisal. ( FAO, 2004 ) ( 10 ) The Codex hazard appraisal phases: The OIE hazard appraisal phases: Hazard designation Release appraisal Hazard word picture Exposure appraisal Exposure appraisal Consequence appraisal Hazard word picture Risk estimation ( 11 ) . The perceptual experience about jeopardy differs between the Codex and the OIE. The Codex determines the relation between cause/effect and the badness of the possible effects. The chief point of the Codex is the designation of the jeopardy, which is measured by descriptive classs ; high, medium, low. The aim of the OIE is the possible pathogens, which represent a possible jeopardy in animate beings and animate being merchandises, and the direction of this hazard. The OIE emphasises the appraisal of the Risk release. In the OIE RA is strongly linked with the cost /benefit of the step to command this hazard. The Codex highlights the relationship dose/response with the exposure appraisal and defines this as ‘hazard word picture ‘ . The OIE takes into history any harmful consequence, whereas the Codex considers the consequence of the effect of the alteration in the dosage of the hazard, ( pathogen, toxin, or antibiotics residues ) . In Spain the OIE system is used by the governments to develop qualitative RA of the hazards at the debut of infect contagious diseases into Spain and the remainder of Europe from Morocco, Africa. In this sort of analysis different parametric quantities are used: Prevalence of infection, volume of trade, capacity of the virus to last, the seasons and climatic conditions and potency for infection. The magnitude of the effects goes in manus with the chance of transmittal and spread. This is usually linked with costs and benefits of the determinations taken and the accordingly possible economic loss of no action. Normally RA takes topographic point during an eruption of carnal disease in counties near to their ain boundary lines. The quickest attack is a qualitative RA. The Codex is concerned about nutrient safety. The Programmes are designed to protect public wellness and to guarantee that moderately managed procedures in the nutrient trade are in topographic point and to advance harmonisation in nutrient criterions in the work undertaken by international governmental and private administrations. This analysis is usually quantitative. It uses different tools and methods, such as the ‘Monte Carlo ‘ methodological analysis. The information comes from different beginnings that are normally collated into a theoretical account to foretell prevalence and measure. This analysis takes into history the predictable exposures and other factors such consumer types, genders, wellness position etc. They include the consequence of the uncertainness and variableness in mathematical and probabilistic theoretical accounts developed by computing machines programmes. One illustration is the QRA of the impact on human wellness on opposition of Salmonella Enteriditis and S. Tiphimurium in domestic fowl merchandises and eggs. Here they investigate how the usage of antibiotic favors the emerging opposition in pathogens that could be transmitted to worlds and animate beings through the nutrient supply. ( 12 )This quantitative survey gives a numeral value to the hazard, because sufficient informations is available ( 13, 14, and 15 ) . There are different types of RA: From Qualitative ( descriptive ) , semi- quantitative to quantitative RA ( deterministic/ stochastic ) . Qualitative RA is used in countries of the nutrient security, homo and animate being wellness services. For every jeopardy established, an estimated hazard is made on the badness of the likeliness of the jeopardy happening. However, the categorizations used are frequently unequal as the likeliness of a jeopardy to happen is ne'er precise. Besides, a chance database is non required, but at that place needs to be sufficient information that let us set up the likeliness and the consequence of the hazard job. This method can be subjective, which reduces its significance. The envisaged end is of import to transport out the appropriate activities that will take to the expected results. The Quantitative RA system, used in the Covello – Merkhofer Model, works with simulation modeling. The Monte Carlo simulation is a dependable tool, flexible, is simple to prove and to depict and the procedure of this theoretical account is under less influence to human error. However, this method is subjective because the distribution during the description of the information is selective. So there is a demand to look into it to avoid a wholly unrealistic consequence. The semi QRA is a clear attack for the effectual control of a scope of hazard issues. It is normally used in commercial undertakings. The SQRA produces an arithmetical hazard appraisal based on a combination of qualitative and quantitative informations. The job is that due to a deficiency of gettable informations, merely inordinate hazard will be avoided with this method. It is hence non to the full acknowledged worldwide. All these theoretical accounts need to be reviewed after the first phase of the appraisal has been carried out. In Spain, as in the remainder of EU, RA is utilised in a assortment of countries such as instruction, technology, scientific discipline, environment, private and public governmental bureaus ( wellness service, military, banking, trade, etc. ) . Spain has to follow a specific EU statute law in activities related to nutrient production. The usage of the ARICPC, Spanish version of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point ( HACCP ) , became mandatory by the Real Decreto 2207 in 1995, on 28 December. The Regulation ( EC ) No 852/2004 of the European Parliament and Council of 29 April 2004 are now really in force. HACCP is globally recognised as the most first-class system of guaranting merchandise preserve by commanding nutrient borne screen jeopardies. This statute law specifies the mandatory nature of the application of the hazard analysis of these sorts of procedures bearing in head the protection of the population. â€Å" The ( EC ) 178/2002, Article 6 ( Risk Analysis ) , Paragraph 1 provinces: â€Å" In order to accomplish the general aim of a high degree of protection of human wellness and life, nutrient jurisprudence shall be based on hazard analysis except where it is non appropriate to the fortunes or the nature of the step † ( 16 ) . In Spain the HACCP system is used by the regional authoritiess to modulate the nutrient industry in a wide spectrum of activities: Bakers, ice pick, piscary merchandises, dairy merchandises, meat and meat merchandises, pre-cooked repasts, H2O, preserved nutrient, beer, sugar, vino, oil, juice, veggies, eggs, catering, spirit, Sweets and pastries, butcheries, cutting workss, butcher stores, eating houses, java stores, bars etc. In all this activities there is a hazard to place, the hazard in nutrient or ‘agro nutrient ‘ hazards. There are nutritionary hazards, chemical hazards ( arsenic, nitrates, nitrites, Cd ) physical hazards ( temperatures, ionizing radiations ) , biological hazards ( Salmonellas, Campylobacter, E. Coli, C. Burnetii, TSE ) , pesticides, veterinarian drugs residues. The diagram below shows the residues from pharmaceutical production, from infirmaries, illegal drugs, Veterinary medical specialty usage, like antibiotics and steroids and farming activities ( pict1 ) . ( 17 ) Other countries, where RA is applied, are those derived from animate being diseases outbreaks. In March 2009 there was a high hazard that the Serotype 4 or the Bluetongue ( which had been eradicated from Spain ) could come back from the North of Africa because of the air current transporting the septic vector over. This was outlined in the last RA by Regional Veterinary service so they could take the necessary steps. By the Order ARM/575/2010, in all the South of Spain, all farm animal had to be vaccinated against the serotype 4 of Bluetongue, to halt the spread of the disease. Possible carnal wellness or animate being related human wellness jeopardies, that require RA, may include new or unusual infections in animate beings such as Bluetongue in the North European cowss, West Nile virus infection in Europe, or additions in endemic zoonotic diseases like Leishmaniasis, an infection caused by a protozoon parasite of the genus Leishmania ( 18 ) .DecisionThe sum of jeopardies both related to carnal diseases and nutrient safety signifier a long list. It is of import for the commanding organic structure, to place first which of the jeopardies are most likely to show an immediate menace. The undermentioned phase would be to explicate the right inquiry, which could be really simple and straightforward. For case: which hazards are you or your administration interested in? Is at that place a instance to make a Hazard Assessment? What result is expected? Zero hazard or acceptable hazard? The right inquiries will take to relevant information already made available. However, if the inquiries lack in timing and do n't present the right definition of the hazard/s involved, and this is non sorted at an early phase, the undermentioned portion of the appraisal could be biased or wholly compromised. The whole information and information accessible will specify the tract that ‘s taken. If the jeopardy is a disease, it is of import to obtain a broad scope of information from different beginnings to derive an overall image of the jeopardy presented and the possible hazards estimated from the consequence of the rating of informations collated. This procedure is clip devouring, demands expertise, resources and fiscal backup. Financial and human resources are cardinal to avoid unreported wellness position. Developing states do n't needfully hold the support and resources available to use the necessary systems efficaciously and rely strongly on outside support. By and large a deficiency of fundss stops the development of specializer colleges and establishments.â€Å" Prevention IS BETTER THAN CURE †Ã¢â‚¬Å" Adagiorum Collectanea † 1536, Erasmo de Rotterdam ( Roterdam, 1466/69 )

Henry David Thoreau s Civil Disobedience - 1013 Words

In Henry David Thoreau’s â€Å"Civil Disobedience†, Thoreau makes the claim that the best form of government is a government that doesn’t govern at all. Thoreau’s paper pushes for the people to begin following the will of their conscience rather than blindly and foolishly follow the unjust idea of â€Å"majority rule†. Throughout the paper Thoreau makes a point of stating that â€Å"majority rule† is simply the will of the upper-class being forced into action over the rights and wills of the poorer minority. This paper openly criticizes and condemns many institutions and policies of the American National government. Because Thoreau wrote this paper during the Mexican-American War he uses in it, in addition to slavery, to reinforce his statement of all political decisions merely being the wills of the strongest citizens put into action. For the purpose of this assignment the paper has been divided into three significant parts, Thoreau did not have these divisions. In the third part of Thoreau’s paper he begins writing about his own acts of â€Å"civil disobedience†.
